Music Education-Instrumental Emphasis (Bachelor of Music in Music Education)

A minimum of 124 semester hours is required for all undergraduate degrees for graduation. Some majors may require more than 124 credits.

*    Minimum 7 semesters of Private Lessons and passing the 301 level. Performance Level Primary Lessons (e.g., 301P) may be used as a substitute.

**   Minimum grade of B required.
***  Minimum grade of C required. 

Signature Learning - Bachelor of Music in Music Education


  • First Year Seminar (MUSIC 120 Introduction to Music and Listening for all music majors)
  • Reading and Writing (minimum grade of C required) 
  • Oral Communication (minimum grade of C required) 
  • Ethics   
  • Quantitative Reasoning (minimum grade of C required) 
  • Religion
  • Fine Arts - (Requirement waived for Bachelor of Music majors)
  • Social Science *
  • Cultural Pluralism *
  • Natural Science (Students must take a minimum of six (6) credit hours of Natural Science and the laboratory science requirement) *
  • Humanities
  • Global Systems
