African American - African Studies

The minor in African American/African Studies is designed to provide opportunities for the systematic study of the African heritage of African Americans. Students benefit from a wide range of perspectives in the study of cultural diversity. This is a reflection of Capital’s commitment to multicultural education.

UC 270 - Cultural Pluralism
CLS 220 - History of Africa
CLS 260 - African - American History and Culture
with a focus on African Americans, Africans, and/or some directly related topic
CLS 491 - Individual Study
CLS 495 - Internship
and six hours from:
ENGL 270 - Ethnic and Women’s Literature
SOC 390 - Social Stratification-Race, Ethnicity, Class, and Gender
