SOC 432 - Social Movements

This class will cover theories of social movements, as well as historical and current social movements in the U.S. and abroad. The first half of the class will examine theories of social movement emergence, mobilization, tactics, framing, and outcomes and in the second half of the class we will explore historical and current social movements such as the civil rights movement, the anti-war and anti-nuclear weapon movement, and recent racial justice movements. Prerequisite(s): SOC 115  or SOC 120   Max. Credits: 4
