EDUC 584 - Diagnosis of Mental & Emotional Disorders

This course provides a thorough exploration of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-5. Students explore how to use the manual to diagnose mental and emotional disorders. Major categories of diagnosis include mood, anxiety, dissociative, eating, schizophrenia spectrum, dissociative, and personality disorders, among others. Focus will be given to conducting careful and thorough interviews to provide information that leads to a concise diagnosis. Case studies and role-playing will deepen learning and explore differential diagnosis.
