EDUC 503 - Introduction to the Profession

This course introduces students to the profession of counseling through exploring the integral philosophy, history, and current trends of the field. The course provides foundational knowledge of the potential roles of a school or clinical mental health counselor. The course introduces foundational components such as multicultural counseling, the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics, credentialing and licensure, and counselor advocacy. Students will begin to explore and define their personal professional identity.
