Religion: Youth Ministry and Christian Education Major (Total-42 hours)

The Religion: Youth Ministry and Christian Education major seeks to prepare students to become youth ministry and/or Christian education leaders within congregations. These studies link critical and academic studies with studies in the practice of ministry. Theological and Ministry studies will be supplemented with guided cognate studies outside the Religion Department.

Requirements:
In addition to fulfilling the basic requirements of the Religion Major (30 hours): two courses in the Ministry Core
and the Youth Ministry and Christian Education Concentration
Cognate Studies - Youth Ministry and Christian Education (12-15 hours)
two courses: at least two additional courses from the following:
This results in a minimum of 12-15 hours of cognate studies.
Additional cognate studies beyond the minimum are highly recommended. Signature Learning Requirements for Youth Ministry and Christian Education Majors:
- First Year Seminar
- Reading and Writing
- Oral Communication
- Ethics
- Quantitative Reasoning
- Religion - (Requirement fulfilled by Major)
- Fine Arts
- Social Science - (Requirement fulfilled by Major)
- Cultural Pluralism
- Natural Science - Students must take a minimum of SIX (6) credit hours of Natural Science courses (the combination of the Natural Science and Society requirement and the Laboratory Science requirement).
- Humanities
- Global Systems
