BIOL 270 - Genetics

Credit Hours: 4
Mechanisms of inheritance, nature of gene expression at chromosomal and molecular levels, transmission of genes in populations and individuals, and evolution at the molecular level. Studies include human, lower animal and plant genetics. Applications of mathematics and statistics to outcome prediction. Relates underlying theory to contemporary societal issues such as genetic engineering, gene therapy and cloning. Includes inquiry-based laboratory investigations. (Offered Spring)
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 151  and MATH 120  or higher.
Corequisite(s): BIOL 270L .
