ENGL 286 - Postcolonial & Global Literature Credit Hours: 4 This course introduces students to 20th and 21st century English literatures of Africa, the Caribbean, and South Asia, covering well-known and lesser-known writers. We will consider matters of form (fiction, poetry, theory, film) and style (social realism, modernism, vernacular writing) and their relation to the historical contexts of anticolonial freedom struggles, postcolonial independence, and contemporary globalization. Students will engage the interdisciplinary field of postcolonial studies and its key concepts and debates.
