MUSIC 123 - Music Cultures of the World

Credit Hours: 3
In this course, students will study various world music cultures, including musical histories, contexts, and practices. Students consider their own position relative to musical cultures and communities around the world as they engage in the process of learning. Course materials are presented through watching interviews/videos of musicians from around the world talking about and performing their music, reading current research, class discussions, musical demonstrations, and hands-on application in pseudo-authentic performance contexts indigenous to each region. (Offered every semester)
