POLS 322 - Modern and Contemporary Political Thought Credit Hours: 4 During the 16th Century, political philosophy changed radically from its ancient and medieval counterparts. Political thinkers began to move away from viewing politics as an ideal form for achieving happiness to viewing it as the interactions of humans who desire different things and may enter conflict to achieve these desires. In this course, you will be introduced to leading figures in these debates, including Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Mill, Kant and Nietzsche, among other thinkers. (Offered every third spring) Prerequisite(s): POLS 120 .
