NURS 301 - Health Assessment

Credit Hours: 3
This theory/laboratory course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to conduct a comprehensive systems-based health assessment using a holistic framework. Patient health care needs will be determined by the process of analyzing assessment data using the curricular concept of critical thinking/clinical judgment. Standard terminologies, documentation standards and techniques, therapeutic communication and teaching/learning principles are explored. Health promotion and patient-centered care are emphasized. Variations in assessment and health needs of patients across cultures and the lifespan are explored. Total Course Hours: 30 hours theory, 30 hours lab. Special fee applies (see “special fees” in “Financial Section” of this Bulletin). (Offered fall/spring)
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 231  and BIOL 280 .
Corequisite(s): NURS 300  (may be taken prior to NURS 300 with instructor permission).
