EDUC 374 - Content Area Literacy Credit Hours: 4 This course develops understanding and acceptance of the importance of reading to accessing information, comprehending written texts, and acquiring knowledge across academic disciplines. Students recognize the importance of embedding reading instruction in a meaningful context for the purpose of accomplishing specific, authentic tasks. Students acquire specific teaching, learning, and study strategies that are necessary for teaching content area reading and ways to support students with specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia during a required clinical experience. Content Area Literacy includes on-site or school-based clinical experiences. (Offered fall/spring/summer) Prerequisite(s): EDUC 201 .
