MN 2765 - Introduction to Drumming in Worship

Introduces basic drum set technique and rhythms as applied to the drum set and global drums in worship settings. Students will learn the fundamentals of drum set as a class. Participants will come away with an experiential understanding of effective sound production on the instruments, performance practice, and application of basic drum set rhythms in accompaniment of worship music. In addition to the survey of basic drum set and global hand drumming rhythms, students will differentiate technique for sound production, create graphic notation for drum parts, analyze graphic notation for rhythm, sounds and sticking (hand order), apply drum set and culturally specific rhythms to music in worship.
