An analysis of environmental problems and possible policy responses, such as command-and-control regulation and market-based solutions. Areas stressed include the ramifications of negative externalities and market failures, the economics of pollution control, the economics of sustainable development, environmental policy development, and global environmental issues. The use of analytical tools such as risk assessment, risk management, and benefit-cost analysis in environmental planning is explored.
