EDUC 583 - Counseling Program Development


This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive school counseling programs based on the program components of the ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Program, 3rd Edition.  Students will learn to design programs that are integral to the mission of school and support the academic achievement of all students. Students will learn how to apply their knowledge and skills in the areas of human development and counseling in order to design and implement effective programs that positively impact school climate and enhance the academic, personal/social and college/career development of K-12 students. Students will gain proficiency in methods of evaluating programs, including the effective use of technology to manage, analyze and present school-based data. The class will be presented in a hybrid manner, meeting on campus for five sessions during the semester.
