Requirements for Accounting Major:

Business Core

The Business Core program provides a broad foundation in the five areas of accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing plus a working knowledge of quantitative methods and information systems. These courses provide the basis for advanced courses in a business major.

Business Core Requirements

General Education Courses (with exemptions from the Quantitative Reasoning and Social Science General Education course requirements); ECON 101; ECON 115; BUS 101; 131, 211, 213, 221, 240, 242, 246, 260, 301, 325, 390, 450; Math 120; Math 215.

Major Requirements

BUS 311 - Intermediate Accounting I
BUS 312 - Intermediate Accounting II
BUS 347 - Business Law II
BUS 411 - Advanced Accounting
BUS 412 - Introduction to Taxation
BUS 413 - Individual Income Tax
BUS 414 - Business Tax Accounting
BUS 415 - Cost Accounting
BUS 417 - Auditing
At least 7 credits of electives outside of BUS prefix.

Recommended Electives:

BUS 295 - Accounting Externship

BUS 492 - Accounting Internship

Residence:

At least 12 hours of major requirements must be taken in residence at Capital University, not including the Business Core.
