Political Science Major

A minimum of 124 semester hours is required for all undergraduate degrees for graduation. Some majors may require more than 124 credits.

Political Science Electives - (18-19 credits)


Choose nine credits from the courses listed below:
Complete three additional 300- or 400- level Political Science courses

World Languages - (8 credits)


  • Complete 8 hours in a modern foreign language or American Sign Language (or proficiency credit)

Signature Learning Requirements for Economic-Political Science Majors:


  • First Year Seminar
  • Reading and Writing 
  • Oral Communication 
  • Ethics 
  • Quantitative Reasoning (Requirement fulfilled with Major - MATH 215 Elementary Statistics  or SOSCI 210 Social Science Statistics )
  • Religion 
  • Social Science - (Requirement fulfilled with Major)
  • Cultural Pluralism
  • Fine Arts 
  • Natural Science - Students must take a minimum of 6 credit hours of Natural Science courses (the combination of the Natural Science and Society requirement and the Laboratory Science requirement). 
  • Humanities
  • Global Systems
