Political Science Major with Education Licensure

Requirements for Political Science major with education licensure


In addition to the political science major, students may complete the Adolescence to Young Adult licensure program for integrated social studies. This program prepares the student to seek licensure for teaching all social studies in grades 7-12 in the schools of Ohio. Information regarding this licensure program may be found under the School of Education of this Bulletin.  

The requirements are as follows:


(Political Science Integrated Social Studies majors are exempt from Signature Learning  Global Awareness and Social Science Goals.)

Additional Requirements:


  • plus the requirements listed for the Adolescent to Young Adult Education and Integrated Social Studies.

Signature Learning Requirements for Economic-Political Science Majors:


  • First Year Seminar
  • Reading and Writing 
  • Oral Communication 
  • Ethics 
  • Quantitative Reasoning (Requirement fulfilled with Major - MATH 215 Elementary Statistics  or SOSCI 210 Social Science Statistics )
  • Religion 
  • Social Science - (Requirement fulfilled with Major)
  • Cultural Pluralism
  • Fine Arts 
  • Natural Science - Students must take a minimum of 6 credit hours of Natural Science courses (the combination of the Natural Science and Society requirement and the Laboratory Science requirement). 
  • Humanities
  • Global Systems
