The Religion: Worship Ministries Major
Seeks to prepare students to become leaders within the worship life of congregations. These studies link critical and academic studies with studies in the practice of ministry. Theological and ministry studies will be supplemented with required guided cognate studies outside the Religion Department. Requirements:
In addition to fulfilling the basic requirements of the Religion Major (30 hours)two courses in the Ministry Core (6 hours)
and two courses in the Worship Ministries Concentration (6 hours)
Cognate Studies - Worship Ministries (15-18 hours)
Those seeking a Worship Ministries Major must complete complementary studies outside the department. This requirement will usually be met by completing a minor (15-18 hours) in such areas as Communication, Theater, Art, Music, etc. Additional cognate studies beyond the minimum are highly recommended. Cognate studies should be pursued in consultation with the student’s Worship Ministries advisor. Signature Learning Requirements for Religion Majors:
- First Year Seminar
- Reading and Writing
- Oral Communication
- Ethics - (Requirement fulfilled by Major)
- Quantitative Reasoning
- Religion - (Requirement fulfilled by Major)
- Fine Arts
- Social Science
- Natural Science - Students must take a minimum of SIX (6) credit hours of Natural Science course (the combination of the Natural Science and Society requirement and the Laboratory Science Requirement).
- Humanities
- Global Systems
