Computer Science Mission:
Computer science is a rapidly evolving technical field of study. In order to contribute to both the liberal arts and the professional aspects of the student’s education, the offerings are planned with the following objectives:
- to teach computer science in a way that students will see the process of creative and critical thinking and improve their problem solving skills;
- to provide students with the backgrounds to continue the life-long learning process in this rapidly changing field;
- to prepare students for immediate employment upon graduation;
- to prepare students for graduate study.
Computer Science Learning Outcomes:
- Students will demonstrate the ability to develop computer software and have a working knowledge of computer hardware and various computer systems.
- Students will demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills to analyze and model systems.
- Students will be able to communicate clearly the specifications for computer systems and write efficient and clear code. Students will develop the ability to be independent learners and practitioners in this rapidly changing field.
