Department Chair-Federico
Associate Professor-Shields

Physics is the study of our physical environment, that is, the fundamental nature and applications of energy and matter. Motion, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, atoms and nuclei are the substance of the study of physics. Knowledge of these basic principles serves as the foundation for all areas of science and engineering. The analytical and quantitative skills required in the study of physics provide an excellent background for further study in business, management, law and computer science.

Learning outcomes for the Physics Minor:

  1. Students will apply critical reasoning skills to model and solve physics related problems.
  2. Students will demonstrate the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret physical data.
