(3)
A comprehensive study of the early influences on, and the development of, rock music from the early ‘50s to the present. The course focuses on identifying stylistic features of various forms of rock music, discriminating between the purely musical and extra-musical aspects of rock, and understanding its historical development through the seven decades of rock music. The course also examines the symbiotic interrelationship between rock music and society - particularly how the music reflects and affects society. Offered spring semester each year. Prerequisite(s): Major in  music or Music Technology degree; others by permission of instructor.
