BIOL 270 - Genetics(4) Mechanisms of inheritance, nature of gene expression at chromosomal and molecular levels, transmission of genes in populations and individuals, and evolution at the molecular level. Studies include human, lower animal and plant genetics. Applications of mathematics and statistics to outcome prediction. Relates underlying theory to contemporary societal issues such as genetic engineering, gene therapy and cloning. Includes inquiry-based laboratory investigations. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 152 CHEM 102 ; MATH 121 or higher; Corequisite(s): BIOL-270L. Offered fall semester.
