MS 412 explores the dynamics of leading soldier’s in full spectrum operations in the Operating Environment (OE). Students examine differences in customs and courtesies, principles of war, and rules of engagement in the face of terrorism. They also explore aspects of interacting with non-government organizations, civilians on the battlefield, and host nation support and counterinsurgency operations. Students will develop and present a battle analysis and participate in a staff ride at a historic military site. The course places significant emphasis on preparing cadets for their first unit of assignment. (Offered spring.) Prerequisite(s): MS 411
