This course introduces concepts, issues, trends and theories concerning informatics and technology in healthcare. Various health information systems, applications and technologies are examined. The role of informatics for promoting quality and safety in healthcare is emphasized. The culture of technology in healthcare, impact of technology on patients and providers, and human factors interactions are explored. Usability testing frameworks, informatics standards and standardized languages are also introduced.
