MSW 510 - Theories of Human Development and Diversity Social workers use theory to ground and inform their practice decisions. Students critically examine the assumptions of systems theories and critical race theory to examine how human development is informed by diversity across the lifespan. Cultural humility and cultural competence begin with awareness of the self and the other in dynamic systems, as well as one’s own experiences of privilege, oppression, diversity, and social justice.
