BUS 449 - Sport Law

This course provides students the requisite legal and risk management knowledge required of today’s sport practitioner. Legal issues across sport governance structures are examined including antitrust law, collective bargaining and labor agreements, intellectual property rights, ambush marketing, and contract law. Students will review cases related to concussion litigation, impact of Covid-19 on leagues and teams, gender discrimination, student-athlete marketing (NIL), NCAA compliance, and NCAA Division I coaching contracts and apply their course learning to a semester long project. (Offered Fall, 2023) Prerequisite(s): BUS 290 .
