MATH 420 - Abstract Algebra

A study of the major concepts of abstract algebra and the role of axiomatic systems in algebra. Students use algebra to describe patterns, relations and functions and to model and solve problems. Major concepts studied include number theory, groups, rings, integral domains, fields and other algebraic systems. (Offered spring semester, odd years.) Prerequisite(s): MATH 252 .
