NURS 331 - Parent and Newborn Nursing

This theory and clinical course focuses on the transitions related to the childbearing and child-rearing family. Health promotion, disease prevention and health maintenance in families along with family theory and assessment are emphasized.  This course provides students with the opportunity to apply concepts of physiology, pathophysiology and related pharmacology as well as medical-surgical nursing therapeutic skills in the perinatal clinical setting. 2.5 credits = 37.5 hours of lecture; 0.25 credits = 7.5 hours of seminar/lab; and 1.25 credits = 75 hours of clinical per seven-week module. Offered fall/spring/summer. Special fee applies (see “Special fees” in the “Financial” section of the undergraduate bulletin). Prerequisite(s): Placement: Junior standing. Pre-requisites: NURS 201, HSPTS 230, NURS 300 and NURS 301. Open to students admitted fall, 2021.(Offered for the first time to junior TUP students in Fall, 2023.)
