POLS 313 - Human Rights in a Global Perspective(3) Examination of the human rights discourse that emerged as a reaction to the atrocities committed during World War II, and that now forms one of the central normative frameworks of international law and international relations. Introduction to specific policy areas-such as torture, forced migration, slavery, sexual trafficking, the rights of indigenous peoples, and the rights of children-that make human rights a contentious subject for diplomats and scholars alike.
