EDUC 368 - Physical Education Pedagogy for Adolescents to Young Adults

This course is designed to prepare multi-age physical education teacher education candidates to teach physical education to students from adolescent to young adult, grades 7-12. The course prepares candidates to demonstrate with competence, develop appropriate sequences for, and create and use appropriate instructional cues and prompts to teach the critical elements of basic motor skills, rhythms and physical activities; and concepts and strategies related to skillful movement, and physical activity. Candidates learn how to support and encourage learner expression through movement, and to incorporate interdisciplinary learning experiences that allow learners to integrate knowledge and skills from multiple learning areas. State and national standards are used to frame instruction and assessment. Candidates are also prepared to design varied instruments and procedures for instructional assessment, interpret assessment data and provide assessment results to students, parents and others.
