EDUC 576 - Organizing Programming for Pre-K Students with Medical and Social/Emotional Issues and Their Families (


This course is an advanced study of the services for birth to 5-year olds, provided by the state of Ohio and through Part C of IDEA, Grants for Infants and Toddlers Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and No child left Behind (NCLB). A study of interventions for the medical, behavioral and educational needs very young students is at the core of this course.  Students will see the connection between needs, and how programming for these domains are accomplished with evidence-based practices of PBIS, RtI, medical supervision, in all settings. In addition, students will gain further insight into the cultural expectations of families within these domains. This course is taught in conjunction with EDUC 526 Family, Community and Culture: Relationships .
