EDUC 566 - Introduction to Intervention in Preschool and Early Childhood Special Education


This course is an overview of the services for birth to 5-year olds, and the intervention services that are provided by the state of Ohio and through Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and No child left Behind (NCLB). The field of special education requires careful study and understanding and builds on these federal laws as well as state mandates for serving the very young.  Interdisciplinary work with the Health Department, as well as other community agencies as well as early transition services to school and to Kindergarten are discussed as well as, as well as the skills needed for assessment and intervention.
