EDUC 531 - Phonics, Word Study and Literature


This graduate course extends student’s knowledge of literacy theory, terminology and best practice teaching strategies related to the study of phonics, word study, and literature.  It focuses on the developmental stages of literacy development, assessment, intervention strategies and research related to literacy such as dyslexia and English as a second language.  Required by all graduate students seeking a reading endorsement. The class will be presented in a hybrid manner, meeting on campus for five sessions during the semester.
